……. Overview of ongoing collaboration with UNDP on EU funded Projects
The Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Reconstruction Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR) Engr Mustapha Gubio to recieved the audience United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representatives in his office. The meeting was to discuss on overview in areas of collaboration and interventions by the UNDP .
The Deputy Resident Representative and Programme for UNDP Mr Lealem Berhanu Dinku said they were in the office to discuss ways of improving the partnership and solve challenges of the ongoing projects in Borno .
The Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Reconstruction Rehabilitation and Resettlement RRR Engr Mustapha Gubio while responding said UNDP has been the most supportive organization that are partnering in Humanitarian Coordination and interventions in Borno . Engr Gubio also announced the challenges of funding and delayed in payments , which has been the challenges .
Engr Mustapha Gubio also called on the delegation to review the means of involvements of indigenous contractors so as to support the people of the state as they are the victims of Insurgency , highlighted that this will improve the standard of living of the affected people, since those ongoing reconstruction Projects going on the some Communities, it is the people of the Communities that are involved in labour of the projects .
Other members of the delegation of the UNDP are Mr Williams Tsuma Crisis Prevention and recovery advisor, Mr Simon Ridley Rule of law and Human Right Advisor, Mr Ashraf Usman Kabir Conflict and Political Economy specialist .
The permanent secretary of the ministry and other directors also highlighted challenges facing the Projects and way forward .
Summary of current UNDP Activities in Borno State are :-
(1). Early Recovery Projects- Early Recovery Project funded by EU Implemented by UNDP and WHO Currently in no cost extension period to implement remaining outstanding WHO activities, UNDP activities are completed Target areas are; Biu, Bama, Monguno, Konduga, Mafa, Kaga later included for reconstruction of Vocational Training Center, etc.
(2). Waste Management Project EU funded UNDP
( 3) Support for Reconciliation and Reintegration (S2R) of former armed non- state combatants and Boko Haram associates implemented by UNICEF, 1OM and UNDO Project life from 2019 to 2022
( 4). Regional Stabilization Facility Target areas: Ngarannam, Banki, Monguno, Damboa .
